Training / Workshops
Myllyteatteri practices Suzuki Method of Actor Training as its core training.
Suzuki Method was created and developed by Japanese theatre director Tadashi Suzuki and his company Suzuki Company of Toga. Its primary concern is to restore the wholeness and expressiveness of the actor’s body through rigorous physical discipline. The training is meant to heighten the actor’s emotional and physical power onstage. Great attention is on strengthening the lower body and sharpening breath control and concentration.
In addition to Suzuki Method, the Viewpoints-tecnic developed by Anne Bogart and the SITI Company has give us a lot. Moreover, we are open to various training methods and techniques that are suitable to the need of the production and the actors. In the next production singer and voice trainer Pia Skibdahl trains with us.
Myllyteatteri regularly arranges and leads workshops and training sessions for the actors. They provide vital opportunities for actors to train together, to make connections with other actors, and to have meaningful dialogues about theatre.
The information about the workshop is coming up when we are there.
